The GSF 2008 will be held on 27 September at the Tercentennary Hall, Gibraltar.
The first Gibraltar Song Festival took place in 1965 when Father Charles Caruana needed to raise funds to build the Catholic Youth Centre. This became an annual event right through to 1975. When Father Caruana became the Bishop of Gibraltar, these festivals came to a standstill and remained dormant until last year.
Joe Carseni, winner of three Song Festivals, now retired and aware of the high standard of local talent, decided to revive these festivals.
The Gibraltar Song Festival has been registered as a non-profit organisation with the objective that all proceeds will be donated to help local charities, while, at the same time, open a window of opportunity for both local and international talent who will be able to benefit from international exposure in the world of music.
